The full species Viola palmata is not in the iNat database
This didn't appear to be colonial/stoloniferous, but it had a chunky rhizome-like structure (visible in lower right of first image).
I collected a specimen of this but then realized I still couldn't key it without it being reproductive, so I planted it in hopes of getting it to flower.

I was split between A. altecristatum and A. undulatum but am leaning toward the former based on the capsules not being strongly horizontal. I'm am not at all confident though.
