I guess the trees (mesquite, persimmon, chittamwood, etc...) and brush (granjeno, whitebrush, blackbrush, etc...) behind our barn here in northwestern Jim Wells county is a prime habitat for these. I know I was the first in USA to post a pic on iNaturalist of the Texas Elephant beetle. This is either the 5th or 6th I’ve photographed in our barn in three years. Only the 2nd of those to still be alive. Just a few weeks ago I posted a female I found that was dead. ADDITION: here is a female I found an hour after this post !
