Great find by botanist and rare plant magnet @mcharpentier of this rare violet. This is a county record. A "stemless blue" violet with a long spur, glabrous petals, pubescent upper leaf surface.
In pondshore, S end Sesachacha Pond. Lower growing but with fairly prominently lobed leaf shape suggests var rubra. @mcharpentier, added this record to the mix going through photos looking for something else.
Growing in dark sandstone crevice. Photos under scope at 10x, 10x and 40x magnification
Visited site to look for possible Oxybasis rubra var rubra as suggested by @mcharpentier. Plants with immature flowers but will try to revisit for ID. Some less upright nearby possibly var humile.
Small patch of 65 plants in mature Nyssa sylvatica stand with moderate to low density of Clethra alnifolia. Close to small stream, well off trail. Gaultheria procumbens and Mitchella repens nearby but not much groundcover.
Utricularia resupinata (resupinate bladderwort), Plymouth, MA
Eleocharis equisetoides (horsetail spikesedge), Richmond, RI. Regionally-rare. A new EO.
