I’m pretty sure this is a non-native bee- unusual for this area ???

Field Notes - A beauty of a Red Claw Crayfish, found in a freshwater creek in the Tablelands in FNQ.?
Scientifically known as Cherax?Quadricarinatus, these guys are a prized catch of many a fisherfolk. They are suited to a large variety of conditions, grow quickly and are even used in aquaponics, aquaculture and aquariums! They are native to parts of Northern Aus and the NT, though have been deliberately introduced to a number of other places, including New South Wales, South Africa, Jamaica and Mexico! They are easily caught in traps using what one might consider absurd bait - rockmelon, cheese and even Sunlight Soap!
Whilst we released this guy after a few quick pics, rumour has it that they are quite the tasty treat, especially when wrapped in bacon, beer battered and shallow fried in hot oil!
