1-2 heard singing in response to playback. At least 2 juveniles were seen just a couple hundred feet east of here. In appropriate early succession chaparral habitat in the 2002 Rodeo-Chediski Fire burn scar, dominated by Arctostaphylos pungens, Quercus grisea, Q. gambelii, Cercocarpus montanus, and Nolina microcarpa.
