I have a previous iNaturalist record from the same site, but thought it might help to do an updated entry as the photo quality is vastly better this time. The species was seen in/near several tarns around the loop track, but generally associated with tarns that have large beds of emergent reeds, and seldom seen in those without this vegetation type. This particular site has a large population, but the neighbouring one which lacks reeds had virtually no Adversaeshna. Mating pairs were observed regularly on this day.

Adult female 19 metres long. Assumed to be Sei Whale (DNA analysis of biopsies still to be carried out). Possibly dead up to two weeks before beaching, shark feeding damage apparent. No other obvious external injuries or entanglement noted.

Possibly a caridean shrimp larva?
Approx 12mm long.
Caught in a surface plankton haul off Tiritiri Matangi Island during spring tide low, along with thousands of other malacostracan larvae.
A very active swimmer in the water column.
Amazing stalked eyes.

Found at staff accommodation on the ground near a light. Came in during bad weather last week. Checked for injuries or broken wings needed a bit of R and R and was released a few days ago.
Only get one a year appearing during bad weather in Milford itself usually.
