This snapping turtle was lodged between two trees after heavy rain made the creek rise and could not get itself out, so we decided to help him out. When handling snapping turtles, it is always important to grab them from the VERY BACK so you do not get bit. Always release them so that they are facing away from you as snapping turtles can be aggressive. Please be extremely careful when handling wild animals, and always know which animals are safe to handle. If you aren't sure if an animal is safe to pick up, it is best to simply observe.
