I'm uploading this not exactly sure how it will be received.
There are numerous threads on the forum talking about drawings as evidence (https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/is-there-an-observation-field-in-use-to-flag-observations-with-drawings-sketches/464 https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/are-drawings-evidence/8595 and so far that seems to be upheld by iNat. I couldn't find anyone asking about similar recreations of a sound. So here is my best recreation of a bird sound that I heard but couldn't get a recording. I have heard this bird before, but can't find any match in my apps. The noise was coming from pretty high up in the trees. I heard it repeat a few times over the course of a minute.
A forum post I made about this observation: https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/whistling-humming-as-evidence/38642
The animal was very large. 51/4 inches from nose to hind end. It was sitting in the middle of the road about 200 feet from creek. I got one photo before the frog jumped into roadside vegetation. It did have the dark line along the eye but it was faint.
Coyote moved on, but this burrowing owl held its guard for many minutes after the coyote left. Perhaps guarding nest?
These tiny insects were clustered on the underside of purple vetch leaves. Photo by my brother-in-law.
A very small salamander found in a creek in Armstrong Redwoods.
