I think this was probably a cottontail but it might have been a jack rabbit. That being said it has been at least 15 years since last seeing one around the area.

Footprints estimated 2.5inches top to bottom, wingspan estimated 20 inches across. Estimated 6 inches front of primaries to back of primaries
