I have more photos of this fight to exhaustion if a project is interested. Both the dominant bird and the defeated bird eventually separated and both appeared to have survived with only momentary periods of exhaustion for both where they would feed at the same feeder for a moment then resume their dispute. This was in a residential backyard with plenty of food sources, both natural and hummingbird feeders.

Captured in a single-high ground-level mist net next to a stagnant pool of water on a rocky grasslands plateau. This plateau (elevation ~720 m) is surrounded by secondary thicket forest.

A friend captured these images on her front porch. Realized later that they were raiding the nest of the Canyon Wren and must have climbed the rain gutter next to the bench to get to it. There were two snakes working together!

One of the rarest, if not the rarest, frogs in the United States. These two individuals were found at a site where the Arizona Game and Fish Department had reintroduced the species about two years earlier. However, it was thought that the reintroduction might have failed, because three surveys since then had not turned up any Tarahumara Frogs. This was the first known sighting of the species here since the release nearly two years earlier. Also entered in HerpMapper.org.

I discovered this surprise in the morning while I was misting down the scorpion tanks and she emerged from her scrape to drink the water. This one in particular had been hidden for weeks with only the pedipalps occasionally visible. Unfortunately this meant I missed seeing the 1i scorplings before they molted. She gave birth to a litter of nine, although only eight still cling to her back; one precocious baby had already left to roam the tank.
