Pretty sure on ID. Growing in strange neighborhood thicket with common buckthorn but also some other native thicket-forming shrubs (Viburnum lentago, Cornus spp., Prunus virginiana). Oddly the yellow anthers & clearly lobed leaves are mismatching characters, according to FNA key. Photo of young fruit added on 6/24; leaves also still hairy on that date

At this location, found between two other monitored species (west of the north end of the Large Yellow Lady Slippers [sub pop 1] and east of the north end of the Small White Lady Slippers [sub pop 1].

Personal notes:
"On June 7th, this orchid appeared to be at peak or slightly past peak bloom. It was was growing in a dense thicket (76-100%) of predominantly Glossy Buckthorn and Gray Dogwood (both over a meter or two high) as well as a Multiflora Rose. The ground layer was composed of Cowbane, Marsh Marigolds, Aster sp.(puniceus?), Carex sp., Horehound, Blue joint grass, Galium sp."

"The total height was approx 20-22 inches high which is greater than I've seen White Lady Slippers. It had two flowers and I could also see a single fruiting structure from last year. Unlike the single clump of whites that were now completely bloomed out to the west (in more sun), this orchid was in the shade so perhaps was later in blooming."

"the pictures you sent are C. Xandrewsii, alright. Besides intermediate height and phenology, the amount of red-violet coloration and especially the colors, length, and number of twists in the sepals and lateral petals all indicate hybridity. I would've expected darker, more purplish sepals like the yellow-flowered parent, but in general hybrids can be variable (in the case of these orchids, moreso in Xfavillianum than Xandrewsii, because ssp. pubescens is more variable than ssp. parviflorum [note that I haven't learned the newer nomenclature yet]).
